Eye Designs Optical sells glasses, contact lenses, and optical accessories-but owner, operator, and licensed Optician (since 1982), Ranee King, has always believed her business to be more service-oriented than anything. Based in Sevierville, TN, Eye Designs Optical serves Jefferson, Sevier, and surrounding county residents; fitting clients with glasses from over 1,500 different personally-designed options. And realizing that buying frames is never as simple as it sounds, Eye Designs Optical aims to make the entire experience as easy as possible-accepting most vision plans, and even filing insurance claims on the client's behalf. BlueCross, BlueShield, Humana, Spectera (United Healthcare), EyeMed, Davis Vision, and most TennCare plans for children. They're all accepted. But just as much as Ranee is consumed with the complete satisfaction of every single client who walks through her doors, it is her dedication to "doing more" that makes her - and her business - so special. The Tennessee Dispensing Opticians Association Board of Directors, Sevier Chapter of American Business Women's Association, Sevierville Chamber of Commerce Membership Committee, Sevierville Sunrise Rotary Club, and a number of other committees have all been graced with Ranee's presence and helping hands. This willingness to assist and better the local landscape has pushed Ranee towards a variety of volunteer endeavors as well; serving medical and eye care needs of the uninsured with Remote Area Medical, while also giving her time to Mountain Hope Good Shepherd Clinic. She is also Chair of the Advisory Board for the Opticianry Program at Roane State Community College, and a member or the Optical Retail Business Alliance.
