Explosive Blast Shielding Systems - EBSS Information

Explosive Blast Shield Systems (EBSS) develops engineered blast overpressure mitigation systems that protect U.S. military, federal law enforcement, and allied training facilities — and the warfighters who use them. Cumulative blast overpressure (BOP) exposure during training is now formally recognized across the Department of War as a critical Warfighter Brain Health threat, tied to traumatic brain injury, cognitive decline, and the broader health crisis facing the operator community. The problem is acknowledged. Engineered facility-level solutions are not yet fielded. EBSS was founded by Michael Eaves, a retired Navy SEAL Chief Petty Officer with 20+ years in Naval Special Warfare, to close that gap. The company builds two integrated systems: BORS — Blast Overpressure Range System. A range-integrated shield, grate, and lateral wall panel platform for shoulder-fired weapons training. Live-fire validated at Naval Special Warfare with an 87% reduction in mean peak BOP at the RSO position. C-BOS — CQC/B Overpressure Tile System. An indoor system for shoot houses and breaching facilities, integrating wall and ceiling tiles, behind-tile dampeners, hinged blast deflectors, and floor grating to capture and contain blast pressure rather than letting it reflect back into the room. BORS protects the people on the open range. C-BOS protects the people inside the room. EBSS is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) currently engaged with the Naval Research Laboratory, Applied Research Associates, and federal stakeholders across the Department of War on validation, cooperative research, and prototype collaboration.
