Majority owned by its co-founders and staff, Intrepid has been taking small groups to travel the local way, on real-life experiences for more than three decades. Through our global DMC network, our expert teams operate the majority of our trips, as well as tours on behalf of other leading travel brands. Nick Van Gruisen guided in Botswana and Southern Africa, Martin Thompson ran some of Kenya’s finest hotels, and Rowan Paterson led wildlife treks through the Himalayas. When they returned to England, they brought their passion and expertise home, creating The Ultimate Travel Company—a privately owned business built on personal insight, far-reaching knowledge, and a hands-on approach.
