The Executive Training Programme (ETP) is a European Commission funded Programme with the goal of increasing the EU export of goods and services to Japan and Korea. The ETP was conceived in order to provide European executives and their sponsoring companies with the business, language and cultural training needed to overcome barriers to entry and achieve success in the Japanese and Korean markets. With around 1,100 graduates from more than 800 companies, the ETP is one of the oldest and most successful EU training programmes. The European Commission supports participants on the ETP programme by: • Funding the entire ETP training course; • Providing a scholarship for each participant of 26,400€ a year for Japan and 24,000€ a year for Korea. The programme uses a combination of different teaching methods, site visits, guest speakers and networking events, as well as internships, which enable participants to apply knowledge in practice and immediately transfer it to their companies. The yearly 45-week programme for European executives consists of three modules: 1: A 3-week intensive training course in London on the culture, history and civil society of Japan or Korea 2: A 30-week business and intensive language training course run by the renowned Universities in Tokio or Seoul 3: A 12-week internship in a Japanese or Korean company to apply the newly acquired knowledge and skills in practice.
