I have spent over 20 years inside the tourism industry as an operator, not a consultant. I have owned and run tourism businesses, carried the risk, made the payroll, and lived the seasonal cash flow and the OTA commissions the same as the operators I now work with. That is the part most people in this space cannot say. I have been on the other side of the desk. I ran Aquaduck on the Gold Coast, where we grew revenue 36% in 10 months and shifted online sales from 4% to 47% of turnover. I took on the relaunch of Southern Cross Tours, a business that was 92% international and had fallen apart through COVID, and rebuilt it as a domestic operation.
