Exceptional Children Information

Exceptional Children is a small psychological consultancy specialising in the cognitive and educational assessment of children. The Director and principal psychologist is Dr Gail Byrne. Gail is an Educational Psychologist and has also been a teacher and Coordinator of Individual Differences. For the past seventeen years, she has served as Chairperson of the CHIP (Children of High Intellectual Potential) Foundation. She has many years experience working with children who may be intellectually gifted, or may have other special learning needs. These students may not be achieving their potential, or, may not be experiencing success in the classroom, for any number of reasons. Gail has coordinated Special Education Departments and Gifted Programs in a number of schools and is particularly skilled at understanding the ramifications of an assessment and explaining to teachers and parents how best to work with the child in the classroom and at home. Gail completed her Doctoral studies in the underachievement of gifted children whilst her Masters in Education concentrated on curriculum differentiation and meeting children's needs in the classroom.
