Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) began in 2003 as a grassroots effort to provide care and comfort items to the hospital bedsides of wounded service members returning home from the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. More than two decades later, Wounded Warrior Project is the nation's leading veteran service organization, focused on the total well-being of post-9/11 wounded, ill, or injured veterans.
Keeping the promise to care for our nation’s veterans requires the expertise and energy of a diverse and committed team. We build and lead programs that help warriors find purpose and thrive. We provide essential lifelines to families and caregivers. We advocate tirelessly with policymakers. We raise awareness to celebrate the service and honor the sacrifice of all veterans.
The support of generous donors and corporate partners allows us to provide programs at no cost to warriors and their families. Talented WWP teammates across the country work together to ensure that no warrior is left behind. Together, we're changing the way our nation cares for veterans for generations to come.
Founded in 2010, Team Red, White and Blue chapters and communities deliver consistent, local opportunities for veterans and the community to connect through physical and social activity. They host weekly fitness activities, monthly social events, and participate in local races and events together. These programs are at the core of Team RWB’s mission. Veterans Yoga Project supports recovery and resiliency among our veterans, military families, and their supporting communities.
We accomplish this mission by:
1) providing yoga practice resources to veterans, clinicians, and treatment programs
2) providing training for yoga teachers to learn how to safely and effectively provide therapeutic yoga to those recovering from stress- and trauma-related conditions
3) contracting with treatment programs to provide Mindful Resilience yoga as a complementary treatment option
4) supporting empirical research investigating the use of yoga for veterans.
5) providing healing retreats for veterans and their families
