EV Engineering Limited brings together the leaders in Australia's automotive manufacturing industry - Air International Thermal Systems, Robert Bosch, Continental and Futuris Automotive in a collaborative project to build 7 fully electric vehicles based on the Holden Commodore. The project is being supported by Holden and the CSIRO and the project is to be completed by June 2012. The Australian Green Car Innovation Fund is contributing $3,55 million to the project. The project will help to develop electric vehicle engineering skills and components within the Australian supplier industry and will demonstrate the technical viability and attractiveness to customers of a large electric vehicle. The skills and knowledge gained and the components developed in completing the project will create opportunities for new exports to car makers globally including battery pack design and packagin, electric vehicle sub-systems integration and calibration and further development of the range-extension "battery switch"technology.
