In 2012, the mother of one of the founders underwent a below-the-knee amputation due to septicemia, radically transforming her life. The simplest tasks became challenges to overcome. Eight years later, in 2020, although she had adapted to her new reality, the pain and discomfort associated with her prosthetics remained a daily struggle. Seeing a glaring need to address this discomfort, the founders of Ethnocare developed the Overlay, a pneumatic sock that combats the many negative aspects of a regular sock. Our approach is rooted in innovation through design, combining an ethnographic understanding of needs with excellence in engineering. We transform problems into opportunities, creating solutions that are in perfect harmony with the technical requirements of medical products. Our proposal is the result of co-creation with a network of competent professionals, aiming to introduce an innovative product to the market that meets a growing demand. The Overlay is designed to enhance the comfort of transtibial patients and facilitate the adjustment of prosthetics. It manages the daily volume variations of the residual limb, combats pressure points, and allows for optimal realignment of the limb within the prosthetic, offering an unparalleled level of comfort. Joining Ethnocare™ means participating in a unique human and technological adventure, where each innovation has a direct impact on the quality of life of our users. Follow our journey, share our vision, and commit to our side for limitless mobility.
