Eta Diagnostics, Inc. (ETAD) is a pre-revenue startup devoted to the development and commercialization of high throughput “massively parallel” flow cytometry. Using patented and patent-pending acoustic and optical technologies licensed from the University of New Mexico’s Center for Biomedical Engineering, the Company is targeting very high volumetric flow rate (50 mL per minute) applications, many of which require detection rates of 1 million per second or higher. Examples of such applications include in-line sterility monitoring in pharmaceutical manufacturing and beverage production, and the counting and analysis of rare Circulating Tumor Cells (CTCs) in human blood (aka a liquid biopsy). The ability to efficiently incorporate CTC analysis into routine blood tests will dramatically improve the early diagnosis and treatment of many forms of cancer, including breast, prostate, colorectal, and pancreatic cancer.
