Key to South Africa's growth is a consistent supply of energy. And that supply must be both cost-efficient and environmentally sound. To meet this demand we need professional engineers (i) to maintain our existing capacity and (ii) to deliver the new power systems. And we need leadership and thinking from our most skilled graduate engineers, not only to run these new systems, but also to design and manufacture our future infrastructures - so lessening our dependence on imported technologies. Currently we find our engineers have little access to the mentorship or the advanced skills needed to get to the next level. They need a bigger picture. The engineering training and research provided by EPPEI is designed to provide this bigger picture - to bridge the skills gap from where we are, to where we want to go in South Africa with the supply of energy.
