The University Medical Center Groningen is a hospital in Groningen, The Netherlands. Its core tasks are academic health care, medical education and medical research. The hospital offers about 1.400 beds and has almost 14.000 employees. It is the only hospital in The Netherlands that is allowed to do any organ transplantations that exist and therefore one of the few hospitals in the world that are allowed to.

Het LUMC is een centrum van medische vernieuwing, dat de patiëntenzorg wil verbeteren door wetenschappelijk onderzoek. Het leidt artsen, gespecialiseerde zorgverleners en onderzoekers op om daaraan bij te dragen. Naast algemene patiëntenzorg biedt het LUMC specialistische behandelingen die slechts in een beperkt aantal medische centra mogen worden uitgevoerd. Het LUMC onderscheidt zich met name als verwijscentrum voor complexe medische vragen waar geen pasklare antwoorden op zijn.
