As the only national animal welfare charity in the United States solely dedicated to horse welfare and the horse-human bond, the EQUUS Foundation is uniquely positioned to bridge the gap for horses in transition when their competitive careers are over by providing opportunities for new careers. In 2016, 130,000 horses were transported over the border to slaughter. Many were healthy and still had untapped potential - and none deserved this inhumane end of life. We are committed to ensuring a future for America’s horses and building a more informed and compassionate America that appreciates the value of horses in our lives.
