Equestrian.com is the largest online equestrian retailer in the UK, with aspirations of further growth and continued investment in the equestrian community. This successful company has been built by CEO Lorraine Meadowcroft, from humble beginnings, over 20 years ago. Established in 1992, Equestrian Clearance Warehouse started when Lorraine set up a small tack shop in the old corn merchants attached to her house. Born out of a passion for horses and everything equine, this was a perfect fit to combine pleasure with work. Lorraine’s love of all things horse started when she was young and used to watch the local showjumper ride her horses past her house. Lorraine went on to breed her own showjumping mare, Izzy Wizzy, and competed at a high level. Izzy is still with Lorraine, now at the grand old age of 31, and is teaching her grandchildren to ride The tack shop was a great success, loved by everyone for being an ‘Aladdin’s Cave’ of equestrian treasures. Although difficult to find in the hills of the Pennines, customers flocked to purchase great quality products and top brands at exceptionally affordable prices. After taking Equestrian Clearance Warehouse on the road, Lorraine soon realised that there was high customer demand, all over the country, for what she was selling. Customers continued to enquire about a mail order service so when e-commerce began to take off Lorraine took the leap to online sales in 2001. By 2006, Lorraine took the brave move to close the shop and pursue online sales and Equestrian.com was born! The website has grown and grown as more brands have been offered and developments in e-commerce have made reaching more customers possible.
