At the heart of the Spring Branch Community is its schools. Since its creation as a suburban school district in the 1940s, SBISD has been nationally renowned for providing quality education. Six incorporated villages surrounded by the city - Bunker Hill, Hedwig, Hilshire, Hunters Creek, Piney Point and Spring Valley - comprise the school district. The Awty International School is a coeducational, college preparatory day school in Houston, Texas, enrolling 1,800 students representing more than 50 nationalities from PK3 through 12th grade. St. John's is an independent, co-educational day school presenting a 13-year sequence of college preparatory training. A non-profit institution, it was founded in 1946 to provide the community with a school of exacting standards in the development of individual, spiritual, ethical, intellectual, social and physical growth.
