Epiphany is a woman-owned business established in January 2000 by Julie A. Beem, MBA, and Christa A. Nelson, MBA, in Atlanta, Georgia. Initially, The Epiphany Group provided full-service marketing to professional service firms such as architects, engineers, surveyors, and general contractors. The company expanded to Iowa in 2002 when Christa moved back to Cedar Rapids. In 2008, the company pivoted following a major flood in Iowa and changes in Julie's personal life. Christa continued as a sole proprietor, collaborating with talented firms across the country and expanding services to include nonprofits, attorneys, financial planners, internet service providers, and retail companies. This expansion led to collaborations with various marketing professionals to meet growing client needs. Epiphany was re-founded in 2018, offering strategic and tactical marketing services to businesses and nonprofits. Services include strategic planning, fund/friend-raising, brand identity, storytelling, digital marketing, web design, social media, media relations, and influencer marketing. The agency operated out of Marion Co-Working and MERGE in Iowa City. In 2020, COVID-19 prompted a shift to full-time remote work, leading to the creation of the Spark Team Collaboration. This initiative allowed each subject matter expert to establish their own business while collaborating on client projects, streamlining payroll and expenditures and keeping costs down for clients. In 2024, Epiphany transitioned from being a central billing hub for all marketing services to becoming a team builder and collaboration leader. Christa began handing off services she had been providing to others, focusing on her core strengths and passions: strategic planning, serving as a fractional CMO, and team development, training, and building.
