Epic Teams is a leading consultancy in the field of agile organizational performance and team coaching. Dr. Shannon Arvizu, the founder of Epic Teams, started the consultancy in 2016 after observing so many well-meaning, well-funded, and well-staffed organizations fall short of the impact they wished to create in the world. Instead, she found that there was a fundamental lack of understanding of the critical behaviors and systems that lead to the cultivation of collective intelligence - which is the ability to collaboratively solve problems well under a variety of circumstances. With deep experience in the San Francisco tech ecosystem, Dr. Arvizu has prototyped and successfully tested a new kind of consultancy practice - one that is based in the honoring of existing internal knowledge for designing and owning the improvement process. This approach leads to long-term, sustainable change that is owned and maintained by internal champions. Epic Teams is known for its refreshing approach to the lean/agile movement, which integrates insights from the legacy of Taiichi Ono and Edward Deming for improving work systems with the newer field of positive psychology and inclusive leadership for improving social systems.
