An open and international cooperation. The EODC is a start-up company. Our mission is to work together with our multi-national partners from science, the public and private sectors in order to foster the use of earth observation (EO) data. Once fully operational, the EODC will manage and operate a virtualised, distributed EO data centre, providing collaborative IT infrastructure for archiving, processing, and distributing EO data. Taking fullest advantage of up-to-date infrastructure, we will host our activities at some of Europe’s most powerful computer processing environments. EODC aims to establish fully automatic, end to end, EO data processing chains. Through the expertise and extensive scientific network of its prime shareholders, the EODC acts as a community facilitator and organiser for the processing of big EO data sets. EODC’s primary focus is placed on the monitoring of global water resources. Our goal is to - organise collaborative software development processes for establishing fully automatic end-to- end EO data processing chains - build up comprehensive competence in processing large quantities of EO data - establish a platform for running data-intensive geoscientific models We have the ambition to enhance the social benefits of EO technology by serving, in particular, private and public organisations that actively support social and environmental development goals (e.g. humanitarian non-governmental organizations or environmental agencies).
