We deliver essential and sustainable water services for the benefit of the community. We put customers front of mind and contribute to liveable cities. We provide drinking water, recycled water, wastewater services and some stormwater services to more than four million people in Sydney, Illawarra and the Blue Mountains. Drinking water is sourced from a network of dams managed by Water NSW, then treated and delivered to customers' homes and businesses by Sydney Water. We are Australia's largest water utility with over 3,200 staff and an area of operations covering 12,700 square kilometres. We, a statutory State owned corporation wholly owned by the New South Wales Government, have three equal, principal objectives: - to protect public health - to protect the environment - to be a successful business.

We believe that all waste is a resource and aim to incorporate recovery, recycling and reuse throughout our operations and those of our clients. Our areas of expertise include: General waste management and recycling services – including collections for homes and businesses; recycling and resource recovery; waste transportation, processing and disposal; and management of recycling facilities and landfills. Industrial services – including management of liquid and hazardous waste; industrial cleaning, high pressure water blasting, vacuum loading, emergency spills response, hydro excavation and site remediation; collection, re-refining, recycling and sale of hydrocarbons and cooking oils; workshop waste solutions including parts washing; and plastic waste equipment manufacturing.

Sustainability Victoria closed on 30 June 2026 following the Victorian Government's response to the Independent Review of the Victorian Public Service. For more than 20 years, Sustainability Victoria worked with Victorians to reduce waste, improve recycling and support the transition to a circular, low-emissions economy.
