Ensemble Pour La Difference is a social business incubator that empowers entrepreneurs in Eastern Congo to drive social and economic progress. We combine affordable finance with expertise in business and technology innovation to establish and scale businesses and organisations that benefit the Congolese people and their communities. Ensemble was founded by Mike Beeston - founder of the innovation agencies Fjord & Razorfish - and Patrick Byamungu, a former journalist and videographer. Our base is Bukavu, South Kivu. We also have an office in London, where we are a registered UK charity. Ensemble began operations in Eastern Congo in 2014. Since then we have supported 24 businesses, of which 8 have repaid their loans and exited and continue to operate independently. We continue to support 11 that combine to generate $4 million in annual revenue, create employment for 3,900 people and reach more than 400,000 customers with their products and services.
