Enfield Mencap provides a variety of services for adults during the day (Monday to Friday) and young people in transition from children's to adult services in the early evening. All our services are developed through a person-centred approach to planning, identifying an individual service user's needs and aspirations. The New Opportunity Centre provides services from our purpose-built centre in Edmonton, which is also the base from which we offer a wide range of supported services in the community. The Centre has a strong focus on independent living skills and has a dedicated kitchen as well as a range of education, leisure and craft activities. Club 18+ does exactly what it says on the tin. This is an early-evening programme for young learning-disabled adults in transition from children's to adult services. The Club presents a relaxed social environment in which young service users gain a range of life skills and have opportunities to develop friendships with their peers in a secure and supportive environment. Weekend Respite Services, currently only available on Saturdays, is a special project funded through the London Borough of Enfield Carers' Grant to provide a day of respite for up to 15 families each week. Service users access a wide range of social and leisure activities with the support of Enfield Mencap staff.
