With the global aggressive renewable energy targets, the energy mix of the system is changing rapidly in favor of renewable resources. Renewable resources such as wind, solar, and battery, rely solely on power electronics-based conversion systems. To accurately quantify the stability impact of this rapidly changing landscape, it is imperative to have a precise representation of the system components. Inaccurate modeling of new renewable generators could lead to potentially erroneous analysis, thereby causing catastrophic system failures. The incident of solar generation loss at Bhadla substation in Rajasthan on September 16, 2019, and the Loss of 900 MW of generation in Southern California on October 9th, 2017 are few examples of such occurrences.
