Energy for the People Information

Tosh and Alex were both working in large organisations, agitating for a new energy market, one that was more customer centric, and delivered on important social and community needs, not just the financial bottom line. A fortuitous introduction from a mutual friend put the two together, and 6 months later, Energy for the People was born. Tosh and Alex share a deep alignment of values around social justice, equality and opportunity for all, and a deep commitment to addressing arguably the greatest challenge for our generation - climate change. They are natural entrepreneurs, with the motivation and creativity to deliver solutions to complex problems in the face of adversity. Our business name is a play on the Gettysburg address - a common reference point for the birth of modern democracy. For democracy to work effectively, people need to be engaged and informed, and to have faith and trust in their elected representatives. This doesn’t just happen on it’s own, it requires effort and constant diligence to ensure The People’s interests are being served. We see our role in a democratic energy market being the provision of independent, clean energy services - ensuring our clients understand their energy options, and can make well informed energy decisions. This builds trust, and is critical to ensuring the great energy market transition we are experiencing will serve the interests of The People. Our work is focussed on broadening the uptake of clean energy in industries whose customers stand to benefit most from the energy security and affordability that renewable energy solutions can offer. We work with social and affordable housing providers, aged care providers, property developers and community groups to develop and implement renewable energy solutions.
