Encounter English Information

Encounter English opened its doors in 1981. For Stephen Cassidy, founder, it was a dream come true. The first school was established in Porto, and the school in Senhora da Hora followed a few years later. Many generations of students have studied at Encounter English, so we have now extensive experience in language teaching. We are accredited by the Ministry of Education and certified by DGERT. Besides English, we teach French, Spanish, Italian, German, Polish, Swedish, Mandarin and Portuguese for foreigners. Our teachers are highly qualified and chosen very carefully in order to ensure the best fit and maintain a cohesive team. Our mission is to provide a good teaching and learning environment, which will guarantee our students a high level of success, based on the competence of the best professionals.
