For nearly 100 years, United Way of the Midlands has served the Omaha-Council Bluffs metro by bridging the business and not-for-profit sectors to create a Circle of Support that helps our neighbors overcome difficult challenges and start building a better future. UWM’s funded programs and direct services address social and economic disparities and meet families’ essential needs such as healthy food, safe and stable housing, physical and mental health services, career preparation and job training. With your caring support, we proudly fund a network of health and human service programs that help those in need across Douglas, Sarpy and Pottawattamie counties. United Way works closely with the agencies that host the programs to note measurable results in the lives of their clients. And we collaborate with many individual and corporate donors and foundations to keep the network of hope strong. United Way of the Midlands will continue to evolve alongside the growing needs of our community. We will champion those who are in the fight to better themselves and others. We will be informed and accountable. We will skillfully combine passion with reason. We will build up what has fallen and create what should have been here all along. Together, we will create life-changing opportunities through programs that meet the Basic Needs of our most vulnerable population, support children during their academic years and help prepare young people for productive careers. Founded in 1984, Habitat for Humanity of Omaha is a grassroots organization that builds and renovates houses, forges community partnerships and breaks down barriers. We help to grow and maintain the quality, affordable housing stock in Burt County, Douglas County, Sarpy County, Washington and Cass County while increasing access to homeownership opportunities throughout the area. Habitat Omaha homebuyers complete up to 275 hours of sweat equity before purchasing their homes through a 30-year affordable mortgage. We mobilize thousands of donors and volunteers every year in this mission.

Omaha Public Library provides unlimited opportunites for information, education, inspiration and imagination. The 12 branch libraries in Omaha Public Library system are A. V. Sorensen Branch, Benson Branch, Bess Johnson Elkhorn Branch, Charles B. Washington Branch, Florence Branch, Millard Branch, Milton R. Abrahams Branch, Saddlebrook Branch, South Omaha Library, W. Clarke Swanson Branch, W. Dale Clark Main Library, and Willa Cather Branch.
