Empowering Colorado is a nonprofit news organization committed to covering energy development and its local impact. In Colorado, a state with vast natural resources and power-generating options, energy generates frequent debate among policy makers and community members – all of whom hope to manage its impact on the state’s environment, economy, health and lifestyle. Coverage of energy issues – necessary to help communities make informed public policy decisions – is in decline as traditional media cut staff and resources in response to diminished advertising revenues. So journalists and energy professionals created Empowering Colorado to serve as a consistent source of in-depth, independent, unbiased, multi-platform content developed by experienced journalists well-versed in the business, public policy, science and lifestyle issues inherent in the development of energy in Colorado.
