The Texas Association of Counties was established in 1969 to provide services to Texas counties and to promote the value of county government statewide. TAC is the representative voice for all 254 Texas counties and county officials. Through TAC, counties communicate the county perspective to state officials and the citizens of Texas. Celebrating 38 years of service, DVSC now serves Luzerne and Carbon Counties. DVSC offers emergency shelter and direct services to battered women and their children. DVSC's Bridge Housing Program provides transitional housing for battered and homeless women and their children. In addition to emergency shelter and transitional housing, DVSC offers a wide range of free and confidential services including a 24-hour hotline that victims can call for shelter, information and referrals, counseling or a sympathetic shoulder to cry on. Other free services include supportive options counseling, individual and group counseling for residents and non-residents, advocacy, court advocacy and accompaniment related to Protection From Abuse Orders, community outreach and education, life skills and parenting training, medical and mental health advocacy and trainings for professionals. The mission of DVSC is to work toward the elimination of domestic violence. As we carry on our mission for a violence-free tomorrow, DVSC strives to continue to provide safety, empowerment and self-sufficiency to the victims whose lives have been so tragically altered by violence.

Founded in 1998, HarborCOV provides free services that promote long-term stability for people affected by domestic violence. Services include housing ranging from emergency sheltering to permanent affordable housing for survivors, and community-based supportive services which include a 24-hour hotline; individual and group support services for adults, children, teens and seniors; legal and economic advocacy; and community awareness, education and organizing initiatives. Taking a comprehensive approach to addressing violence within the context of family, culture and community, HarborCOV specializes in serving survivors who face additional barriers, such as language, culture, age, disability and poverty. Multilingual staff members reflect the diversity of our communities, offering programs created in response to community-defined needs.
