Jewish Care Victoria is a highly-regarded not-for-profit organisation and a leader in the delivery of aged care, disability and community support services.
In 1848, visionaries in our community established the foundations of Jewish Care with the establishment of the Melbourne Jewish Philanthropic Society to provide assistance to those in need.
In 2018, Jewish Care celebrated its 170th anniversary and continues to touch more than 6,000 lives each year, helping individuals and families in the Victorian Jewish community receive the support they need to meet their challenges.
We deliver high-quality residential aged care and in-home services to elders and people with a disability – underpinned by Jewish values.
Community support services include:
- a dedicated COVID-19 helpline
- financial assistance
- youth mentoring
- disability services
- mental health
- family violence and parenting support programs
- housing support
- access to social workers
- an employment service and
- holocaust survivor support programs.
Jewish Care is an equal opportunity employer and Rainbow Tick accredited organisation – proudly celebrating and warmly welcoming the rich diversity of our community as we strive to be inclusive for all.
Maccabi Australia together with our member States and affiliated Clubs exist to promote Jewish identity and continuity – connecting our Jewish community through sport.
We are the largest Jewish grass-roots organisation in Australia, boasting a 90-year heritage, 35,000 supporters and more than 6,000 members ranging in age from 5 to 85 years across over 50 clubs. Every week participating in a Maccabi team provides an opportunity for Jewish children to connect and form lifelong friendships. Our event calendar includes an annual Junior Sports Carnival, participation in the Maccabiah Games in Israel, interstate sport challenges and Maccabi regional events.
Maccabi is a world wide organisation that represents Jewish sportsmen and women around the world. The Maccabi World Union (MWU) represents more than 500,000 members in over 60 countries participating in just about every sporting code. MWU has established a phenomenal track record of using organised sports as a passport to lifelong Jewish involvement.
The Maccabi organisation in Australia has a proud history of developing Jewish sport and has been sending a team to the Maccabiah since 1950 as well as playing a significant role in developing sport locally through Junior carnivals. Importantly Maccabi Australia is a Zionist sports organisation and is focused on strengthening its links with Israel and the Jewish community generally.
At the Jewish Museum of Australia, we illuminate Jewish life.
At the intersection of art and Jewish culture, our Museum is a place for all people to share in the Australian Jewish experience. We are:
Authentic: Committed to excellence, heritage and quality;
Inclusive: Building a sense of belonging and trust with people of all backgrounds;
Innovative: A museum experience re-imagined beyond our community and country; and
Open: Sparking curiosity, conversation and social cohesion through connection and play.
We seek to infuse all we do with:
Chesed, or compassion and kindness; and
Tikkun olam, or the desire to improve our world.
We look forward to welcoming you to our Museum.
