ELRO CORPORATION (formerly ELRO Commercial and Industrial Corporation) is an investments holdings company engaged primarily in the sugar industry through its Agri-Business Group, and retail distribution of imported fashion and footwear brands through its Consumer Business Group. The Agri-Business Group manages Hacienda Valencia, 700-hectare sugarcane farm located in Bais City, Negros Occidental approximately 45 minutes drive north of Dumaguete City. It is primarily engaged in the production of sugarcanes for the manufacture of raw sugar. Hacienda Valencia is a respected leader in the area with an annual production average of over 90 tons / hectare. It is considered to be one of the more progressive farms in the area as it has been repeatedly cited for its commitment to introducing new technologies in the field of sugarcane farming. Hacienda Valencia is also engaged in the commercial production of fruits, mainly mango, having recently implemented a planting program aimed at diversifying its product lines. In line with its diversification efforts, ELRO Corp has established the Consumer Business Group in 2002 as its retail distribution unit for imported fashion and footwear brands. Past relationships in the retail have been the investment as a minority shareholder in Burger King Philippines, Inc., the establishment of retail concept stores representing brands of sporting goods such as Puma, New Balance and Arena swimwear. The company is currently the exclusive distributor in the Philippines for Ipanema, Grendha, Rider and Ginga footwear brands. The company continues to seek foreign brands in the consumer goods sector for introduction into the Philippine retail and wholesale market. Other affiliated companies are ELRO Land Inc., engaged primarily in the real estate development, and ELRO Retail Corporation., operator of the Bambu, Ipanema and Funky Fish chain of stores nationwide.
