Eldon Bottcher Architect Pty Ltd has been established on the Gold Coast since 1978, and became involved in the provision of Bushfire associated services in 2000 at the request of developers who wanted a higher standard of documents than that being provided by other consultants. Preparation of the Fire Management reports is carried out by Eldon Bottcher: the Principal of Eldon Bottcher Architect Pty Ltd who has a Graduate Diploma in Design in Bushfire Prone Areas from the University of Western Sydney,a Diploma in Architecture from Queensland Institute of Technology and a Certificate in Rural Fire Management from The University of Southern Queensland. He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Architects, a member of the Australian Institute of Emergency Services, the Fire Protection Association of Australia, the Australian Institute of Engineers Society of Fire Safety, and of Guanaba Rural Fire Brigade (where he is Chairman and has been Training Officer), and is accredited by the Fire Protection Association of Australia as a Level 3 practitioner in Bushfire Panning and Design, which is their highest level of accreditation. Eldon has held the Rank of Group Officer Albert Rural Fire Brigade Group, Group Officer Gold Coast Rural Fire Brigade Group, and of Group Officer, South East Queensland Regional Support Group. He is also an accredited I.C.S./ A.I.I.M S Controller and Brigade Training Officer and Level 2 (Officer) Fire Fighter. He was an initiator and member of the Gold Coast City Council's Bush Fire Management Task Force, which prepared the Gold Coast City Council Bush Fire Management Strategy. The Gold Coast City Council Bush Fire Management Strategy won the State award for Town Planning in 1998 and went on to win the National Award for that same year. Eldon has been a Gold Coast Hinterland Resident for more than 20 years. Part of his experience with Bushfires has been as a member and coordinator of the Queensland Task Force, which assisted in New South Wales in the January 1994 Bushfires, and again in 2001/2002, and in the control of the major fires, which swept the Springbrook National Park in October 1994 over a 1-month period. Eldon also was part of the team used to wind up the Stradbroke Island fires in 1996. Eldon has received a National Medal, Australia Day Medallion and Year of the Volunteer Medal from the Queensland Government, and a Community Hero Award from Rotary for his contributions to Rural Fire Fighting. Eldon has also been award a Due Diligence medal for his services to fire fighting and a citation for his assistance in the aftermath of the floods in South East Queensland in 2011.
