El Valencia Club de Fútbol se fundó el 18 de marzo de 1919 con el nombre de Valencia Football Club y, a pesar de que ya existían algunos equipos en la ciudad, se convirtió rápidamente en el club por antonomasia de la capital de la Comunidad Valenciana y del resto de su territorio. El desaparecido campo de Algirós, inaugurado el 7 de diciembre de 1919, fue escenario de los primeros partidos de la escuadra blanquinegra hasta el 20 de mayo de 1923, fecha en el que el Campo de Mestalla tomó el relevo para acoger los encuentros del Valencia C.F. hasta la actualidad. A lo largo de toda su historia, el Valencia C.F. ha sumado 6 Ligas, 7 Copas del Rey, 3 Copas UEFA, 1 Recopa de Europa y 2 Supercopas de Europa, siendo elegido el año 2004 como el mejor equipo del mundo y consagrándose, en definitiva, entre los grandes equipos de Primera División y del resto del continente. Por sus filas han pasado figuras como Mundo, Cubells, Di Stéfano, Puchades, Jacinto Quincoces, Faas Wilkes, Claramunt, Waldo, Alberto Kempes, Piojo López o Santiago Cañizares.
