el hummingbird focuses on traditional South American products, particularly from Peru. We launched in 2013 by selling handpicked Peruvian products such as frazadas*, alpaca throws and jewellery. We focus primarily on frazadas and other handmade textiles. Some information on our products: We source frazadas direct from the artisans and also design cushions and accessories from these textiles. We offer custom orders to our clients who can choose from a large range of colours and designs, all handmade using traditional and complex methods. We also design bags and furniture using colourful frazadas as our inspiration. *Frazadas are exceptional pieces of textiles that we buy directly from the locals Peruvian artisans. They take around one month to make and are made using sheep or alpaca wool and natural dyes. They are very special to the Andean culture as this technique has been practiced for thousands of years.
