Eko-svest Information

The mission of the Center for environmental research and information "Eko-svest" is to inform and promote alternatives to the negative environmental impacts in Macedonia. "Eko-svest" has a vision to become a professional organisation involved in decision making processes in the field of environment. "Eko-svest" is a non-profit citizen’s association established on the 18th of September 2002 in the Basic court of Skopje under the Z.G. 192/02 number. The Center for environmental research and information "Eko-svest" exists to initiate changes in behaviours, to monitor the implementation of the legislation, to lobby, to inform about environmental issues, to advocate, to promote ‘avantgarde’ perspectives that lead to sustainable development. Eko-svest works on energy, transport, genetically modified organisms and waste. In these areas, the organisation acts through implementing projects, campaigns and activities aimed at: informing public, rising public awareness about the environment and the needs for preserving it and involves public in its activities. As an organisation we strive to make sure that development projects financed by public money including those of international financial institutions are safe for the environment and for human health. "Eko-svest" is a member of: CEE Bankwatch Network, South East Europe Development Watch, GENET, Inforse Europe, Kite, WECF (Women in Europe for Common Future) and HEAL (Health and Environment Alliance).
