EGYCOT was founded in 1990 by Eng. Hassan El Attal, Ex-Chairman of CATGO (Cotton Arbitration & Testing General Organization) which is a Government Supervising Organization established in May 1965 serving the cotton sector by controlling and supervision the Egyptian cotton varieties during the cotton handling stages to secure the purity and to cut off different sources of contamination for maintaining their excellent properties internationally. Eng. Hassan El Attal had served as a technical advisor for the FAO – UNDP and he was in charge of a mission in Pakistan that was responsible for establishing the Pakistani Cotton Standards Institute (PCSI) from the year 1982 to 1988. Dr. Amgad El Attal joined the company in 1995 after receiving his Masters & PhD in Agriculture Engineering from the Ohio State University- USA. EGYCOT is considered to be one of the main exporters of Egyptian Raw cotton to the most reputable mills and international merchants worldwide. EGYCOT is proud to be the first Egyptian shipper to be registered with the General Administration of Quality, Supervision, Inspection, and Quarantine of People's Republic of China (AQSIQ), as well as a member of the International Cotton Association (ICA), a member of the Alexandria Cotton Exporters' Association (ALCOTEXA), and registered with the Cotton Egypt Association (CEA) - Gold cotton seal.
