Efranat Ltd. Information

Efranat Ltd. is a clinical stage biotech company focused on immunotherapy for solid tumor cancers and viral diseases (e.g., HPV), starting with an HPV-related orphan indication (recurrent respiratory papillomatosis(RRP)). The company’s lead compound, EF-022, is a lectin-receptor activator that modulates suppressor macrophages and tolerogenic dendritic cells. EF-022 stabilized disease in 25% of cancer patients (n=24) with refractory tumors that had been deemed incurable in a Phase I study (EF-022 was the fourth line of treatment for over a third of them). The results were especially encouraging in patients whose disease progressed after treatment with PD-1 inhibitors: 40% of patients deteriorating after treatment with PD-1 inhibitors (2 out of 5) showed Stable Disease (SD) after treatment with EF-022. EF-022 has also shown encouraging results in a compassionate use case for the orphan disease recurrent respiratory papillomatosis (RRP), which is characterized by the recurrent growth of wart-like tumors in the respiratory tract, mainly in children. RRP, with an estimated 2,500 new juvenile cases per year in the US, can be a life-threatening condition due to airway obstruction, with multiple surgeries (often eight to ten per year) as the only available treatment today. Efranat emerged from the personal tragedies of its founders. Their wives, Efrat and Anat, died of cancer. Our company, Efranat, is named after them.
