OUR MISSION Effective altruism is a global movement which teaches people to use logic, evidence, and critical thinking so they can maximize their impact when helping others. Effective Altruism Association (University of Houston) is a professional student organization. Our mission is to help students find a satisfying career which also helps others. We do this by showing you potentially high impact opportunities for helping others, helping you incorporate that into your career plan, and providing ongoing opportunities and guidance for you to achieve your career goals. This is not about fundraising or short-term efforts to help students along in their career paths. Although we will do some of those things, the ultimate mission of this organization is to change the lives of entire generations of students. To get them to make career choices according to what issues are most impactful and least well known. To get them to understand the most urgent global issues and use their unique skills and passions to solve them. We don't change their student experience; we change their entire lives. We're turning students into agents of change who not only make impactful decisions for the entirety of their own lives, but also become ambassadors who encourage as many people as possible to find impactful ways of helping others.
