In 1985 EEE-YFU was founded as an umbrella organisation for national YFU organisations based in Europe. EEE-YFU's aim is to support the capacity of European YFU organisations to develop sustainable and high quality youth exchanges in Europe. EEE-YFU bases its actions on three prioriy areas: - KNOWLEDGE BUILDING AND NETWORKING, i.e.facilitation of cooperation between national YFU exchange organisations in Europe - CAPACITY BUILDING, i.e. the provision of educational activities (international seminars, training courses, conferences) to maximise the quality and impact of the work of YFU volunteers and staff - ADVOCACY AND REPRESENTATION. i.e. monitoring the development of relevant policy issues (such as the recognition of non-formal education, the recognition of exchange years abroad, volunteerism and mobility) and being represented within various platforms and structures Youth for Understanding is a non-profit youth exchange organisation, providing exchange programmes for 15 to 18 year old students in more than 50 countries worldwide. Today YFU can offer over 50 years of experience in running long-term exchange programmes. The exchanges are based on home-stay programmes throughout the world.
