Edward J Egan Information

Dr. Edward J. Egan is an applied microeconomist and computer scientist. He received his PhD in business economics from UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business in 2012, specializing in industrial organization, corporate finance, and Entrepreneurship and Innovation (E&I) economics. Dr. Egan’s consulting generally falls into one or more of four areas: 1) Developing artificial intelligence (AI) and big data methods to enable economic analyses, especially in the context of high-technology-based business. 2) Applying research from E&I economics, including topics related to venture capital and private equity, acquisitions and IPOs, patents and standards, R&D, commercialization, and market entry and exit. 3) Performing econometric analysis to support patent litigation, antitrust and competition, regulatory compliance, pricing and valuation, and other areas where unfair or inefficient conduct would affect profits or welfare. 4) Evaluating and advocating for strategies, policies, and governance mechanisms through cost-benefit analyses, scenario analyses, forecasting, and simulation. Dr. Egan also provides some pro bono analysis of high-growth, high-tech entrepreneurship policy for the economic development of states and municipalities.
