EDAMA, an Arabic word meaning “sustainability”, is an Association formed as a private sector partnership that seeks innovative solutions for energy and water independence, and their positive reflection on the environment. EDAMA Association seeks to create a vibrant new economic sector of energy businesses, drive research, development and commercializing of Jordanian technologies, build public awareness and advocate for policies that will make Jordan a model of energy efficiency, water conservation, and environmental stewardship. In response to the growing need of a holistic national policy on energy, water, and environment (EWE) sectors in Jordan, EDAMA was established as a private association that seeks innovative solutions to enhance these three sectors. Jordan’s EDAMA works in cooperation with numerous entities including other private stakeholders and government agencies to design a comprehensive road map that addresses the key challenges in EWE sectors. EDAMA Association is the first of its kind in Jordan, bringing a large number of public, private and NGO sector representatives together to discuss the future development of the EWE sector in Jordan with particular emphasis on renewable energy. EDAMA was created to raise awareness and inspire action amongst all Jordanians towards a green and sustainable future.
