The Wild Center is located in the heart of the Adirondacks in upstate New York. The Adirondacks are unique in the world. Surrounded by people, they house great expanses of nature interspersed with small towns and communities. They can be an example for a future where man and the rest of the natural world thrive in the same place. This Center, dedicated to understanding this rare place, is committed to helping people explore not a small collection, but one that lives and breathes across the entire expanse of the natural world. The Wild Center is science-based, and its experiences, exhibits and programs are designed to open new ways to look into the latest discoveries made by natural scientists. There may be no more important issue facing humankind than discovering better ways to thrive with the rest of the natural world, and there may be no better place to understand that effort than in the Adirondacks. The Center is the place to see and appreciate the natural side of that vital story.

KidsGardening is a national nonprofit ensuring that every child has the opportunity to play, learn, and grow through gardening. Since 1982, we’ve empowered educators and caregivers with grants, curricula, and training that bring hands-on, nature-based learning to life for more than 2.7 million children each year. Research shows that gardening strengthens academic achievement, social-emotional health, environmental stewardship, and food security—benefits that are especially critical for children facing socioeconomic barriers. Through 200+ annual grants, free resources, and educator professional development, we help youth garden programs take root and thrive nationwide. As interest in food systems, wellness, and outdoor learning surges, KidsGardening stands as the leading national provider of evidence-based garden education. Our free online Kids Garden Community—now 8,000 members strong—connects educators for collaboration and peer support, with 96% reporting increased confidence to garden with kids.
