Statewide impacts_** Duties: **THIS POSITION IS OPEN TO CURRENT WASHINGTON STATE DEPARTMENT OF ECOLOGY EMPLOYEES ONLY.** The Nuclear Waste Program's (NWP) mission is to lead the effective and efficient cleanup of the U.S. Department of Energy's Hanford Site, ensure sound management of mixed hazardous wastes in Washington, and protect the state's air, water, and land at and adjacent to the Hanford site. The program's Waste Management Section in Richland, WA is looking for a Waste Management Chemist (Chemist 4). This position supports the mission of the Program by providing senior chemist technical evaluation and input on chemistry data and required characterization to support permitting and cleanup decisions and proper management of wastes (mixed and hazardous) to insure that human and ecological health is protected. The initial screening will be February 17, 2015. In order to be considered for the initial screening, please submit an application on or before February 16, 2015. Qualifications: Required Qualifications** A Bachelor's degree with a major in chemistry or a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours of college level chemistry AND six years of experience performing chemical analysis in an analytical laboratory OR One year of experience as a Chemist 3. OR A Master's degree will substitute for two years of the required experience or a Ph.D. degree will substitute for three years of the required experience provided a Bachelor's degree and the required college-level chemistry have been achieved.
