Welcoming students from over 60 nationalities, the Lycée Français de New York is a bilingual, independent Nursery (3s) to 12th-grade school, accredited by the New York State Association of Independent Schools and the French Ministry of Education. Committed to bilingual French and American education of the highest standard, the Lycée prepares students of many origins to be thinkers, innovators and leaders, who are at home in the world and inspired to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
Jeannine Manuel founded the Ecole Active Bilingue in 1954 with the mission to develop international understanding through bilingual education starting in the nursery years. Her premise was that “learning a foreign language is, by itself, important; it is also a means to better understand others, to be able to think like them—it provides access to the world.”
An associated UNESCO school, École Jeannine Manuel is also contractually part of the French national education system. The high school prepares students for the French Baccalaureate, the French Baccalaureate with Option Internationale, or the International Baccalaureate. An official testing site for the SAT, École Jeannine Manuel is also accredited by the College Entrance Examination Board and the Cambridge University Local Examination Syndicate.
Since its founding, École Jeannine Manuel has become the largest non-denominational independent school in France, with 2,900 students in Paris and Lille representing over sixty-five nationalities. The school’s academic excellence matches its diversity: École Jeannine Manuel is regularly ranked among the top five of all 121 Paris high schools (public and independent) for its overall academic performance. Today, all over the world, wherever they live, study or work, fifteen thousand alumni bear witness to the excellence of the education they received, as well as to a spirit of openness and flexibility forged at École Jeannine Manuel.
For over 80 years, the American School of Paris (ASP) has delivered an American approach to education for an international community. Located on a secure and spacious campus on the edge of Paris, ASP provides a personalized and fully transportable PK-12 education to over 700 children from more than 60 nations.
An unwavering commitment to a student-centered and stimulating learning environment is supported by small class sizes and innovative, personalized teaching practices. ASP's integrated curriculum enables seamless transition from one school system to another, and our experienced faculty are well versed in supporting students to adapt and thrive academically and personally. Daily French language instruction at every grade level is a key component of the curriculum. ASP is one of the few schools in Europe to offer both a broad range of Advanced Placement (AP) courses and the full International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program, and our graduates matriculate to renowned colleges and universities in the US and around the world.
Additionally, through our Extension Program, ASP offers English immersion courses to over 1,000 students from the local community.
We inspire and empower our students to become the very best they can be through an experience unique in Paris: an American education centering on the individual, in an international setting underlined by a philosophy of respect and responsibility.
