EcoISP is a green company because it applies the four principles of natural capitalism. The first principle is to increase resource productivity through changes in production, design and technology. EcoISP has developed ways to make natural resources stretch further. By building an efficient Internet service provider, EcoISP seeks to align its own practices with the goal of bringing together an online community of like and open-minded individuals who share and distribute resources to improve the state of the Earth. The second principle is to eliminate waste. EcoISP does not freely distribute CD-ROM's as other ISPs do, and all company materials are printed on recycled paper. EcoISP relies heavily on the input of community members to find more efficient solutions that benefit the same goal of improving the environment. Finally, the fourth principle is to invest in reversing the world-wide destruction of the ecosystem. EcoISP's priority is to make a substantial financial commitment to environmental causes and organizations. This commitment will be accomplished by contributing fifty percent of the net monthly subscription fees from subscribers to the non-profit environmental organization of their choice. Additionally, EcoISP strives to ensure that potential advertisers are screened for their commitment to environmental sustainability. 2. Who is behind EcoISP? EcoISP was founded in 1999 by a group of top environmental leaders, educators and business professionals who are passionate about finding solutions to environmental issues facing our world. 3. Is EcoISP tax deductible to members? Each month, EcoISP will contribute funds to user-selected recipient organizations (50 percent of profits from every subscriber's net monthly subscription payment --approximately $2.75 per month -- to the non-profit environmental organization of his/her choice). EcoISP is not tax deductible for individual members; however, EcoISP hopes the entire community of EcoISP subscribers recognizes the power of selecting an ISP that is committed to making a difference for the environment of the world. 4. How does EcoISP make money? EcoISP's first priority is to embrace the environmental community and to facilitate a terrific fundraising opportunity for organizations and their causes. With a growing subscriber base, EcoISP hopes to generate revenue that will continue improving the EcoISP's services. 5. How is EcoISP child-safe? EcoISP supports child-safe site filtering for children to freely surf the Internet without being exposed to inappropriate content. While most individuals interested in EcoISP are advocates of child-safe site filtering software, EcoISP's target audience greatly appreciates the freedom to choose. EcoISP offers optional, child-safe site filtering software to its members for the additional monthly fee of $1.50 per month. 6. What if I already have filtering software? Although we have researched the most comprehensive and affordable child-safe site filtering option for our members, other filtering software is compatible with EcoISP. 7. Members, old and new, can contact EcoISP to recommend a new organization for inclusion on the EcoISP's list. 10. As an activist, what mechanisms are in place for my voice to be heard? One of the features on EcoISP's home page is the EcoForum, a chat room and bulletin board for organizations and individuals to voice their concern for the environment. In addition, the EcoForum will periodically host live chats with prominent leaders in the environmental community.
