PlanetPlay's mission is to harness the power of gaming to address environmental challenges, offering sustainable choices that preserve the joy of gaming while protecting our planet.
We are a not-for-profit platform that empowers gamers worldwide to contribute to environmental action through in-game purchases and gameplay with our affiliated game studios. Alongside the pioneering eco-conscious games marketplace, it is also a movement designed to inspire, educate, and mobilise players to support our planet and its rich diversity of life. In our first year, we have driven over $2.2 million in funding for environmental and nature projects.
SUSTAINABLE PLAY's mission is to publish thoughtful outdoor narratives consistent with the notion of sustainable development: cultivating wellness through wilderness in a manner that preserves the wild for those who follow. Sustainable Play is literary activism; a narrative praxis. We're doing our job if we inspire you, just for a moment, to reframe your worldview. Although Sustainable Play isn't strictly environmental, adventure, or nature writing, it is writing that celebrates wildness. Sustainable Play's founder and Editor-in-Chief, Brad Rassler, is also an organizational development consultant and executive coach. His stories have appeared in Ascent, Alpinist, Climbing, Outside, Powder, Sierra, and other outdoor publications. His first feature profile, "Running Talus," a cover story for Climbing magazine, explored the environmental movement to use nuts rather than pitons in Yosemite Valley. Please drop us a line. Tell us what you think of this journalistic space we're trying to carve out. Throw ideas our way. Tell us about stories that you'd read, if we wrote them. We don't promise to do things differently, but we're interested in what you have to say. One more thing: We've begun to add new voices to Sustainable Play. We're looking for writers interested in giving voice to this journalistic space of mindful and socially responsible adventure, who have the chops to surf the sweet spot. Check back soon for submission guidelines, or just drop us a line if you've got an idea. We'll want the usual query letter, etc. Use the contact form below.
For millions of years, massive glaciers carved out this landscape leaving jagged peaks, majestic fjords and azure lakes in their path. The most famous features in the region are the Torres del Paine, a series of granite spires that dominate the skyline and attract adventurers from around the world. Although spectacular, the area is notorious for the hostile and unpredictable weather that has left an indelible mark on the history of exploration for the past 500 years. This expedition will require the teams to traverse some of the most diverse and demanding terrain in the world. Any team considering registering for Eco-Challenge Patagonia 2021 should know that it will be a serious undertaking and must not be underestimated. Patagonia is an environment that can be as harsh as it is beautiful and commands the upmost respect. The journey will encompass a variety of adventure disciplines including climbing, glacier trekking, horseback riding, kayaking, mountain biking, mountaineering and rappelling. It will require not only the endurance to persevere long days back-to-back, but also the knowledge and experience to be self-reliant in a mountainous environment. The few teams that accept the challenge and are able to embrace the planet in its most wild state will be rewarded with the experience of a lifetime. What shined brightest for me at Eco-Challenge Fiji was the spirit and resilience of the many athletes who attempted the adventure. To be amongst it firsthand is always inspiring, and all of us, from volunteers to crew to the athletes themselves, had a sense that we were part of something special. The next mission to Patagonia will bring a whole new set of challenges to the adventure arena, and this remote land will test the drive and character of everyone taking part. Raw grit is what is needed during tough times but, hold tight, because the reward of completion and pride of taking part will last forever. It started my career and taught me that in the remote wilds of nature you will truly learn who you are. See ...
