Eclipse Broadheads Information

Eclipse Broadheads are manufactured by Traditional Pursuit, Inc. Boise, ID USA . The company is owned and operated by Brad L. Hayes and Blake O. Fischer. "Don't kid yourself, we are not a big company," says Blake, "We build these in Brad's shop one at a time. Every Eclipse Broadhead we put on the market was built by the two of us. Each one is handled and inspected by the two of us no less than ten times. There is a little piece of us in every broadhead." Eclipse Broadheads started as most things do, sitting around drinking a couple of beers and thinking "we can do that". The design is not a new idea. It is based on a broadhead originally produced in Canada called the Journeyman. Both of us shot these broadheads and when they suddenly went off the market we started hording our personal supply. After lamenting the fact that they were no longer available, we decided to bring a great broadhead back and Eclipse was born. We made it official in April of 1998 and became incorporated. We soon discovered that talking about building a broadhead was much easier than actually building one. We encountered a lot of hurdles getting started. For instance, we initially had dies built by a local toolmaker but had to scrap them because they wouldn't produce parts up to our standards. Scrapping those dies was a difficult decision to make. "Dies aren't exactly cheap, but we knew we would never be able to look someone in the eye and tell them "this is the best broadhead built" and that was our goal. So more dies were built. This time we were fortunate enough to be introduced to Theo Riechart, one of the two original owners of Journeyman. Theo, a toolmaker by trade, designed and built the Journeyman dies. Needless to say, we were delighted. Journeyman had developed a reputation for having extremely round, precise ferrules and for being very tough.
