The Poly was established by Act 33 / 1994 of the Namibian Parliament. The institution was recently given approval by Cabinet to change its name to the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST). The institution has six Schools/Faculties and 10 Centres of Excellence. The institution has grown from 2466 students in 1996 to approximately 13000 this year.
