Easy Spin Acres Information

Easy Spin Acres is owned and operated by Elaine Greenberg. Elaine started working with fiber some 30 years ago when she was a full time researcher at the University of California, Davis. She founded her company in 1976 then made it a full time occupation when she retired from UCD in '84. Her farm is located outside of Davis, California where she tends some 60 head of sheep, 17 angora goats and 34 Angora rabbits. Besides the more traditional fiber arts, Elaine also restores Navajo rugs in a separate business called Navajo Rug Restorations. She keeps Jacob and Navajo Churro sheep specifically for those projects. The sheep raised at Easy Spin Acres have wool in a variety of natural colors and textures. Their specialty is the ultra fine wools such as the Merino. Angora goats produce wonderful mohair. And the rabbits, which are hand combed to collect the wool, provide the raw materials for super soft hats and scarves. All of Elaine's fibers, with the exception of Indian Tussah silk and camel down, are grown and processed at Easy Spin Acres. They use no harsh chemicals or dyes. As she says "Everything I make is of natural color, and all knitting is done by hand ... no machines."
