Our Mission The Eastside Quantum Computing Interns (EQCI) program exists to increase awareness, access, and opportunity in the field of quantum computing for students in historically underserved ZIP codes. Founded by the MIMS Institute and SH James Prep (now Revolution Learning) in 2021, EQCI is committed to identifying and supporting Tomorrow’s Leaders by providing early exposure to emerging technologies that will define their future. We believe that talent is equally distributed, but access is not. Our mission is to change that. By investing in young people from urban communities and equipping them with the skills and confidence to engage with quantum computing and building the landscape for what comes next. Our Vision We envision a future where students from every ZIP code—regardless of socioeconomic background—can see themselves in STEM careers, especially in the rapidly evolving world of quantum computing. EQCI has built a grassroots movement that centers equity, imagination, and innovation. Through hands-on curriculum, mentorship, and access to national partners like The Coding School, our interns are not only learning the fundamentals of quantum science—they are becoming landscape changers in their communities and beyond. Our vision is bold: to diversify the next generation of scientists, engineers, educators, and thinkers by planting seeds of quantum literacy now. From middle school through college, EQCI empowers students to explore complex concepts with curiosity, discipline, and purpose—knowing that "The Future is Quantum," and it must include all of us.
