EACH benefits local East African organizations that aim to help orphaned children grow, learn and succeed. Currently, beneficiaries of EACH are the Upendo Children's School in Kenya and the Good Hope Initiative in Uganda. MISSION The mission of East Africa Children's Hope is to support vulnerable, orphaned and destitute children in East Africa, with a particular emphasis on supporting related ventures that encourage the self-sustainability of organizations led by East Africans. EACH benefits the Upendo Children's Rehabilitation Center in Kenya and the Good Hope Initiative in Uganda. EACH child deserves a home. EACH child deserves an education. EACH child deserves a chance. EACH child deserves a promising future. DESCRIPTION East Africa Children's Hope has been a work in progress since 2011 when EACH Founder and President Melanie Pessin shipped off to Africa. Melanie discovered Upendo when she volunteered there that summer and Good Hope when she was working in Uganda in 2009. Melanie found the teachers and caretakers to be compassionate and the children were grateful not only for her time, but the education and love they received. Recognizing that both organizations desperately need funds to create facilities to help the children they support succeed and thrive as they move into adulthood, Melanie decided to found EACH.
