Cape Town, or the Mother City, is South Africa’s oldest city, its second-most populous and the legislative capital. It is made up of a diverse population, a rich history, world-famous tourist attractions and an exciting calendar of international and local events.
More than 231 councillors and 26 225 staff serve 4 million residents across a sprawling and cosmopolitan metro of 2 500 square kilometres.
The City provides all the services normally associated with a full-service municipality, such as water, electricity, waste removal, sanitation, new infrastructure, roads, public spaces, facilities, housing developments, the upgrade of informal settlements and existing infrastructure, clinics and more.
To meet the current and future needs of its residents, the City of Cape Town has formulated strategies and policies to guide development and growth. Central to these is the Integrated Development Plan (IDP), which is a five-year plan that informs the City’s policy and budget decisions.
The City’s strong sense of community makes it one of the best places to live, work and raise a family. We offer rewarding career opportunities, great benefits and competitive salaries. New opportunities are posted at www.capetown.gov.za/careers.

We are a not-for-profit organisation established in 2010 to support the development of the green economy in the region.
Our vision
GreenCape’s vision is a thriving prosperous Africa mobilised by the green economy.
Our ambition
To be globally relevant in driving the uptake of green economy infrastructure solutions in the developing world context.
What do we do?
We work at the interface between business, government and academia in order to identify and remove barriers to economically viable green economy infrastructure solutions in developing countries, thereby catalysing their replicable and large-scale uptake to enable each country and its citizens to prosper.
The Green Building Council of South Africa (GBCSA) is an independent, non-profit organisation, established in September 2007 to promote green building in South Africa’s commercial property industry. A green building is a building which is energy efficient, resource efficient and environmentally responsible- which incorporates design, construction and operational practices that significantly reduce or eliminate its negative impact on the environment and its occupants. Building green is an opportunity to use resources efficiently and address climate change while creating healthier and more productive environments for people to live and work in.
The GBCSA is a full member of the World GBC (www.worldgbc.org).
GBCSA Vision:
To lead the transformation of the South African property industry to ensure that all buildings are designed, built and operated in an environmentally sustainable way to allow South Africans to work and live in healthy, efficient and productive environments.
GBCSA Mission:
To promote, encourage and facilitate green building in the South African property and construction industry through market-based solutions.
The main functions of the GBCSA are to:
1. Promote and raise awareness of green building,
2. Establish a green building rating system for South Africa,
3. Provide green building education, and
4. Make knowledge and resources available to assist those that want to implement green building.
